 INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE 2024 DIVERSITY IMMIGRANT VISA PROGRAM (DV-2024)

 DV-2024 Program: Online registration for the DV-2024 Program will start at noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4), on Wednesday, October 5th, 2022, and will end at noon, Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-5), on Tuesday, November 8th, 2022.  Do not wait until the last week of the registration period to enter, as heavy demand may result in website delays.  No late entries or paper entries will be accepted.

The law allows only one entry per person during each registration period.  Individuals with more than one entry will be disqualified. 

You Can’t “BUY” a better chance of winning!!!  APPLYING FOR Diversity Visa Lottery IS FREE!!!  No entity or person can increase your chance of winning.

YOU can apply online by yourself making sure to:

• Meet basic requirements of successful high school education or its equivalent, defined as successful completion of a 12-year course of formal elementary and secondary education.

OR

• Two years of work experience within the past five years in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience to perform. The Department of State will use the U.S. Department of Labor’s O*Net Online database to determine qualifying work experience.
• Include ALL ELIGIBLE FAMILY members even if they are not traveling.
• Do not include someone who is not your spouse or child. Including someone else will disqualify the whole family.
• Correct biographic information:

Date and place of birth,

The COUNTRY OF CHARGEABILITY is your country of birth and NOT the nationality or residence or where you want to be interviewed.

Please note: The Department of State uses sophisticated technology to detect multiple entries, old photos and photos that do not meet specification.

Diversity Visa Instructions (state.gov)

The Immigration Act of 1990 established the Diversity Visa (DV) program, which makes up to 55,000 immigrant visas available through random selection. The program allows those from countries with low immigration rates to the United States; to enter for a chance to apply for a U.S. immigrant visa.

To apply for this visa, follow the steps on the Diversity Visa Program website. Please also click on DV Instructions for specific and updated guidance.

1. Submit an entry.  Eligible individuals may submit an entry at dvprogram.state.gov during the specified registration period in October/November of each year.
2.   Check your DV application status. In early May, entrants may check their DV application status and see if they were selected using the Entry Status Check at dvprogram.state.gov/ESC. Entrants must have their confirmation number to access information through Entry Status Check. This is the ONLY website where Diversity Visa entrants are notified of their selection, provided instructions on how to proceed with their application, and notified of their immigrant visa interview appointment date and time. Please be aware, the U.S. Department of State is  unable to provide results to DV entrants or provide your confirmation number.
3. Receive notice of your visa interview appointment. The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) will inform DV selectees of their scheduled interview via email with instructions on what to do next. Please click here for additional information on the notification and scheduling process.
4. Prepare. DV selectees must bring all required documents to their interview, so please be prepared.
5. Review local instructions. Please review all local instructions for the interview on our website. Please note that some of the information included in these instructions may apply to immigrant visa classifications other than diversity visas. If you have questions about the country-specific information included here, please contact the embassy, consulate, or office providing consular services where you will apply for your visa.
6. Schedule a medical examination. Schedule a medical examination with the U.S. Embassy, Consulate, or office providing consular services approved physician at least 15 days before your visa interview. Please locate the list of approved physicians on our website.
7. Follow post-interview instructions. Please click here for general information on the “after the interview” process. Please send any questions to the U.S. Embassy, Consulate, or office providing consular services at which you interviewed.

All entries must be submitted electronically during the specified registration period in the DV Instructions. No late entries or paper entries are accepted.
