The foam grips that come with the bar can become very uncomfortable, and after a few pull-ups they make it very difficult to maintain a tight grip and you begin to slip.

Height

I’m approximately 6 ft tall. When doing pull ups with the JML bar as you can see on the videos here, my knees are only cms away from the floor with full range of motion reps. If you’re much taller than 6 ft, even with bent knees, it’s likely that your body will touch the floor on each rep. Unless of course, you have much taller door frames or you stop the exercise shy of a full range of movement to keep more tension on the lats.

Final Words On The JML Pullup Bar

I've used this pullup bar consistently since Feburary 2012, and I've not had any major issues (i'll keep this updated if it breaks or anything). If you've actually got door-frames that will support this bar, it's a good solid pull-up bar. If not, perhaps look into getting either a power rack with a pull up bar attachment, a wall mounted bar or a gym membership. It really depends on how badly you want to do pull ups!

I would recommend this pullup bar to others, I love the convenience of being able to store the bar under my bed and getting it out whenever I want to do pullups or pushups.

I also think there's something particually enticing about increasing my pullup strength; not just for the back / bicep and lat development, but if I were ever in a life or death situation that required me to climb to safety, I've got the physical strength to do it. Most people that I know can barely do a single pullup, which makes me 10x more awesome and more likely to survive a zombie apocolypse.
