First a bit of a back story of my experience/journey with Essence foundations because girl. We have been through it all. My journey started about 8 years ago and from what I remember it has always been a misser. Essence foundations were always very orange. Like orange orange. Like the fruit. Other than that, their foundations were also very matte and cakey. So I don’t have the best experience with Essence foundations. A few months ago (actually years apparently but it took a few years to get to Belgium), they came out with the Fresh & Fit foundation and I was instantly intrigued. Could an Essence foundation work for me for the first time in years?

The packaging is very simple. There isn’t much that I can say about it really, haha. I love the fact that it isn’t a plastic bottle but a glass one because it makes it feel more expensive than it really is. In fact, this foundation retails for €4,99 which is an amazing price. You get 30 ml which is the standard quantity in most foundations. The most disappointing thing ever is the shade range. Because ladies and gentlemen, as far as I can see on the European site, this foundation has a wopping.. four shades. Four shades. I’m wondering when Essence (and Catrice for that matter) will finally release a foundation with a decent shade range. Because four is just not enough and a disgrace. Even other European brands, like Nabla Cosmetics, do a better job and I feel like Essence could too.

The formula. Guys, the formula. I love it. I recently emptied my NYX Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil (review here) and before that happened, I started testing out this foundation. It quickly replaced the NYX one because it’s fabulous. It has a sheer to medium coverage and evens out the skin tone without covering it in a thick layer of foundation. It has a beautiful satin finish, leaning more towards the dewy side but it isn’t greasy or too dewy. The foundation is really lightweight and feels like nothing on the skin.

I actually really like this foundation. In case you haven’t noticed already. It ticks all the boxes in terms of a foundation that I like. It’s breathable. It’s sheer to medium coverage. It’s just a super natural and very flattering foundation.

I have the shade Fresh Ivory. It’s a bit too dark for me but not by a lot. It’s like maybe a shade too dark for my complexion. It has a nice yellowish undertone and leans more towards the neutral side. That being said. Four shades is just a no go.

A long-lasting make-up with caring content? The FRESH & FIT FOUNDATION from essence makes it possible! The vegan texture of cranberry water and a vitamin complex of vitamin E, vitamin B5 and niacinamide offers the ideal mix of make-up and care.

The foundation is enriched with a very good texture and is easy to apply with a medium to high coverage. Thanks to fine, light-reflecting pigments, you get an even complexion with visible freshness for up to twelve hours.

Does Essence foundation clog pores?

Despite its light texture, the essence I LOVE FLAWLESS skin foundation is fully opaque and creates a natural, matte finish. Without clogging the pores, the formulation stays on longer and also protects the skin with SPF 20.
