Understood @kernowlass  but I tried to cancel 2 weeks before my renewal through the Digital River website as instructed - Digital River ignored me.

I tried to cancel again after the renewal as per the terms and conditions through the Kaspersky site - Digital River ignored me.

I sent screen shots of both of the above to support a complaint case to PayPal - PayPal declined on the basis I hadn't cancelled my subscription [!].

I re-escalated my complaint - PayPal declined on the basis I hadn't cancelled my subscription...

As far as I can see PayPal believe whatever Digital River tell them, even if I have provided evidence to the contrary. 

The only way I can stop this happening again next year is to close my PayPal account because Digital River will just keep ignoring my attempts to cancel.

Digital River are a shoddy enterprise and I'm truly amazed that some really high profile global brands are choosing to allow them to damage their reputations because have no doubt, the customer will blame Samsung, Kaspersky, AVG or whoever it was introduced them to Digital River and stop buying their products in future.

I would have to say, as an experienced online shopper, that this company in my opinion should be avoided AT ALL COSTS.

My opinion obviously... in my case I was buying a computer via this parasitic entity ... please - don't even go there for the sake of your sanity.... go thru a retailer that has retail experience... as in when you order, and dr says "in stock" - they really mean "...essentially we have absolutely no idea as to whether it is in stock or not NOR do we give a crap...".

If you try to cancel an order or try to get in touch with them ... best of good luck... 

I have been scammed/lied to/treated like an idiot MANY times before - usually by internet service providers..., but this crowd... in my humble opinion are THE worst I have ever met.

They're dirty thieving b$€@*×ds! I ordered a chromebook & t hub from lenovo which arrived in a couple of days. First the t hub was micro usb not usb c so wouldn't even fit! The chromebook wasn't what i expected so wanted to return it. Took ages to get a returns sorted but finally did. Now after 2 weeks all i have refunded is the t hub [£14.99] where the hell is my £300 for the chromebook!!! I have all the proof of return plus them excepting it back but still no refund!! This company need shutting down!!

Thank you for flagging this. Our client services staff says a refund for the Chromebook was initiated on Sept. 29. They indicate it can take 4-5 business days for it to appear in your account. I'm so sorry you experienced a delay and I hope this is now resolved for you.

A hassle.

It takes a lot of hassle to get a refund.

It took me dozens of phone calls and emails to get a refund for a product I never received and had to cancel. The connection between the store and its various warehouses seems poor and the cause for any delay in the process. However, eventually, I did get a refund.

Well, service wasn't that bad for me, ordered on last tuesday, asked for cancelation on thursday because thought on changing the shop because i was going to my home country on wednesday, on same evening the shipping was confirmed, on friday it got to Tampere[I live in Oulu] and it stayed like this whole weekend and on monday[today] without any reminder UPS delivered it to me at 9 am. So, service was a lot better than my expectations, but still not that good, laptop seems to be fine, so I guees overall it went very good.

Got an email today saying they had…

Got an email today saying they had taken money from my paypal for a product. It is auto-renewal. I have bought a license from another supplier so do not need the auto-renewal. I have no order number and they cant find my account! [ But they manage to bill me] . Requested refund but with no order number the process goes around in circles. I have had to request paypal to step in . still awaiting reply. Avoid digitalriver at all costs. Check your paypal account for automatic payments to this company as it seems impossible to get money back they have taken.

If you registered for a trial subscription that was automatically renewed, there must be a record somewhere. It's possible we can look that up with the email that was used for the trial subscription. Digital River is contracted to facilitate payments, tax remittance, compliance and fraud mitigation for global brands - you will have to contact the brand to cancel the subscription, but hopefully we can track down the original trial subscription, which might be helpful.

Digital River do not pay the refunds.

I bought a laptop 11th of April 2021 from the Lenovo online store. I did decide to return the laptop in 13th of April 2021. It has now been 5 months, and still I have not got the refund. I have been contacting the Digital Rivers / Lenovo for many times, and they are each time promising to pay the refund within few days. Still has not happened.

Update 4.10.2021: Have not got the refund yet.

Update 5.10.2021: Unfortunately the refund has not arrived yet.

Update 7.10.2021: Finally the refund arrived! Thank you!

Thank you for the additional information. I'm sure this has been extremely frustrating. I've asked our client services team to look into this to determine where the delay is happening and why. Hoping to have some information soon.

Update: Our client services team determined the refund was processed on Aug. 23. They indicate it can take 2-3 weeks to appear in your account, and they have contacted you to determine why you are not yet seeing it. I'm truly sorry you have had this delay. That will be looked at as a separate matter, and we appreciate that you brought it to our attention.

Oct. 5 - I'm truly sorry to hear this is still unresolved for you. I contacted our client services team again, who say following an additional escalation from you, the refund was manually processed on Sept. 13, and an email was sent to you on Sept. 21 indicating you should be receiving it. I just want to confirm as of now the refund has still not appeared in your account?

Lenovo product came faulty when it…

Lenovo product came faulty when it arrived [I bought it new]. They required me to provide my own packaging and label to return for repairs, and to call the delivery company myself.

I then raised a complaint for their service and they have taken over a month to reach a resolution [still unresolved].

I've been trying to cancel my Kaspersky subscription for three years now - I'm going around in circles, - digital river take my money but say I need to contact Kaspersky- I simply do not authorize digital river to take any more money from my account for a product I have not used for years.

Hi, Samira - thank you for reaching out to us. Digital River provides transaction functions [payments, tax remittance and compliance] for global companies selling online. Some of those companies sell digital subscriptions for various products, and many offer trial subscriptions. It's not unusual for a trial subscription to roll over into a paid subscription unless you opt out of that. I've asked Trustpilot to contact you through their private channel to get more information from you so we can see what these charges might be. The notice from PayPal probably gave you the name of the brand where the charge originates. While we are a provider of payments/tax/compliance and fraud mitigation services, we are not a customer service provider for brands. If this is a subscription, you would need to cancel it through the brand itself. If I have more information, I can at least try to confirm for you what the charge is, and give you the proper contact information so you can cancel it.

21.3.22 update: As I suspected, these are autorenewals with AVG. They can help you with cancellation as they handle their own customer service. I emailed you the link you will need to get started.

No update on order or delivery... Still waiting.

Placed an order for the new Sony Xperia 1 iii on release day [19th August]. Still have not had the phone delivered almost a week later and when contact customer support they just say someone will email you with an update which they never do. Unacceptable especially when the order value is over £1k

Poor customer service

The customer service lady who answered the phone could not sort the problem and kept reverting back to a script. Her English was also barely understandable.

The payment problem has still not been dealt with. It's the end of August and it was first reported in early June nearly 12 weeks ago.

DON'T USE

Quite possibly the worst customer service experience ever. DO NO BUY FROM THIS SITE.
I order a laptop on 26th November and it still has no tracking number, and no explanation of where it is. This is supposed to be a christmas present for my daughter. I am now begging daily for a refund and keep getting the stock answer of it will be dealt with in 48 to 72 hours.
I have no idea what to do as we have 10 days to go and I now need to spend another €350 to get said laptop from another source and pray I get my money back.
So dreadfully upsetting

Ordered a new Lenovo Thinkpad from Lenovo's Irish site. At ordering stage, I was told that there would be no additional charges or customs fees due as the Irish VAT had already been charged. On delivery however the courier insisted on an additional payment to release the product. I have been pressing DigitalRiver repeatedly on this and have now been in contact with 6 different people, yet still no resolution. Lenovo - this company is seriously damaging your brand, you can do better. DigitalRiver, this is my 2nd really bad experience with you, there will not be another.

It would be no stars if I could

It would be no stars if I could. I bought my wife a Fitbit 4 in July last year and it is still under warranty. It was working fine until about a couple of weeks ago until it just went blank. Thought it had run out of battery so went to charge it. It stayed blank and constantly buzzes when on charge and it gets extremely hot which is a fire hazrd. Tried to contact Digital River Ireland twice through their web-site and have had NOTHING back. I cannot find any information as to how to return an article to them or Digital River nor Fitbit for that matter. I can't find a number for customer services or any postal address. This company is disgraceful and should be avoided at all costs.

The worse online frontend on earth

The worse online frontend that you could found on this earth.

I really don't get how brands can give their reputation away contracting them to manage their sales and client support because they are a complete disaster.

They never know what they should, they copy/paste answers without even reading what you are asking, they cannot fill claims and their ticket support system i doubt they have one that is really working.

I do not recomend buying Anything when they are the ones managing the sales and client support.
Just fly away from them and your life will be much more easier.

Abysmal Company

Digital River Ireland. Abysmal - I thought I was downloading FREE AVG then got a bill for £49 which I did not authorise. I asked for a refund and have heard nothing. PayPal are just as bad and very unhelpful. I am disgusted with both of them.

Avast and many other subscription-based software companies sometimes have a function that requires you to opt out of a subscription renewal after a free trial. Digital River is contracted by Avast and other global companies to facilitate ecommerce transactions. We are not contracted to handle their customer service functions, as Avast is in control of that. STAY AWAY! SCAM! Don't buy at lenovo.ie

I bought a Yoga Slim 7i Carbon from lenovo.ie represented by Digital River in Ireland and never managed to receive the product. After days trying to track the package [I was doing what Digital River was supposed to do], I find out from UPS there was a leak over my package. I called Digital River sales support and they were unable to send a new package of refund the money until they get the damaged pack from UPS. So, the computer has never been delivered, it was not my fault and now I need to wait an undefined time to get my money back. STAY AWAY from buying computer from this company that lacks on customer focus.
