Can I use M·A·C Prep and Prime as a primer?

I refrained from purchasing MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ for a long time because I used to think it is just an expensive setting spray. Since I do not wear heavy base everyday, I felt it was not necessary to buy it. OH WELL WELL!!! I was so wrong. Read on to know why…

• Hold the bottle 30 cm from the face and spray evenly.

My Experience with MAC Prep + Prime Fix+:

As I got into makeup and started exploring options, I decided to give fix+ a try. Obviously I bought it in sale 😀 So lets dive into details and see is it really worth the hype.

Packaging:

MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ comes in a frosted finish plastic bottle with black cap on it. Cap has nozzle spray with locking function. The outer carton is pretty too. It is black with green sparkly glitter like finish (haha very bad description).

I love the packaging however I feel the spray nozzle could have been better because mist is not fine and uniform always.

How I use MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ & Performance:

There are multiple ways MAC fix+ can be used. Here is how I like to use it and how effective it is in performance:

1. As primer water before applying foundation:

Because it is hydrating because of ingredients like water, glycerin and castor oil makes it good priming water. It also feels soothing on skin. I have noticed that my mattifying foundations glide easily and felt less drying with this underneath.

2. As finising spray:

I like to use it as fixing or finishing spray after I do my makeup. It gives my base makeup a finished look. It takes away all powdery or cakey look and the makeup looks more blended into skin. This does increase the longitivity of makeup but not as effectively as setting spray. In winters it also acts as extra layer of hydration on top of makeup.

3. To intensify eyeshadows/pigment:

Little spray of this on eyeshadow brush beafore applying any metallic/satin finish eyeshadows instantly intensify the eyeshadow. It is also helpful in applying loose pigments.

MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ was not instant love for me, I fell in love with it gradually. It felt like an average product in summer for my combination skin. But when I used it in winters as primer as well as fixing spray, I simply loved it. I loved how it made my skin feel non-stretchy and hydrated even after applying powder products. If you have normal to dry skin, you’ll love it all seasons. If you have combination to oily skin, you will love it more in dry and cold weather, and for summers try the matte variant instead.

I just love it and I think it is worth the price. I have finished mine and already repurchased Rose variant in sale.
