WHEN CAN 2023 GMC be ordered?

Model Preview

The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 is entering the new model year with a new off-road-ready AT4X AEV Edition trim. This trim is meant for off-roading with steel front and rear bumpers, recovery points, a front winch, additional steel skid plates, special 18-inch wheels, and 33-inch Goodyear tires. Beyond the new trim, the 2023 Sierra 1500 is a carryover model. The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 differs from the previous-gen Sierra 1500, which GMC continues to sell as the Sierra 1500 Limited.

On the outside, the 2023 Sierra 1500 will have a similar design to the current model. The current Sierra 1500 has a bold, upscale design with a squared-off grille, and c-shaped daytime running lights. Depending on trim level, the Sierra 1500 can skew upscale or rugged. The Denali gets its own unique grille with more prominent horizontal bars and chrome exterior touches, while the AT4X trim has a unique grille and more rugged exterior touches.

The current Sierra 1500 has an interior design that ranges from work-oriented to luxurious depending on trim level. The basic Pro trim has a work-ready look with large controls, a small central touchscreen, and chunky styling. Higher trims gain a larger touchscreen that’s slightly angled toward the driver and fewer controls that sit lower in the center console. Higher trims also ditch the steering wheel-mounted shifter for a more modern shift knob. We expect the design of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 to stay close to the current model that’s on sale.

WHEN CAN 2023 GMC be ordered?

On the tech front, GMC isn’t expected to make any changes to the 2023 Sierra 1500’s list of features. Base models should continue to come with a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, two audio speakers, and multiple USB ports. Available features include a 13.4-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone compatibility, a Bose audio system, a wireless charging pad, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Google Maps, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 will be available with four engines. A turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine is standard. A 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-cylinder engine is also available. GMC offers the Sierra 1500 with two V8 engines. The first is a 5.3-liter V8, while a larger 6.2-liter V8 is also available. Power ranges from 277 horsepower with the diesel engine up to 420 hp with the 6.2-liter V8. When properly equipped, the Sierra 1500 can tow up to 13,200 pounds.

Safety features should go unchanged for the 2023 model year. Forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist will be standard. Available safety features will include a surround-view parking camera, parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and Super Cruise.
