Access

  • OIT-managed devices: Follow the directions for installing software on OHIO computers and search for Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.
    • Installing Adobe Acrobat Pro DC on a University-owned computer
  • Personal and non-managed devices: Visit the Technology Help Center and submit a ticket for installation instructions.
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro DC can be accessed on Windows and Mac platforms.

Who can access

  • Faculty and staff: Exclusive use by a single individual on one University-owned computer and one personally-owned computer or shared use on a single University-owned computer.
  • Students: Available in some labs and on some University-owned, shared workstations.

How to request access

Individual licenses for non-Faculty/Staff employees

These licenses are tied to a specific OHIO ID and allow for installation on up to two computers, one of which can be personally owned. To request access, contact the IT Service Desk with the following information:

  • Software title
  • Operating system
  • OHIO ID of each individual who needs a license

Once we have processed your request, the IT Service Desk will email you with additional instructions.

Device-based licenses for labs and shared workstations

These licenses are tied to a single, Active Directory-joined computer that can be used by multiple individuals, including students. To request access, contact the IT Service Desk with the following information:

  • Software title
  • Operating system
  • Quantity
  • Active Directory (AD) computer name of each device

Once we have processed your request, the installer will be available from the licensed computer's Software Center.

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC and Creative Cloud accounts licensed through Duke will need an active license to continue using the software uninterrupted.

To purchase a license: Visit Software Manager and order a license for either Adobe Acrobat Pro DC or Adobe Creative Cloud.

If you have already purchased a license, and you are receiving this error, see below.

Problem:

Receiving a message indicating that your license has expired.

Users of Creative Cloud may be prompted to “buy now” or “start trial” as in the screenshot below, or individual apps may display a message stating “Your license has expired.”

Solution

“Subscription expired” or “Buy Now” error:

To resolve this issue, sign out and then sign in again via the help menu of Acrobat, or through the help menu of one of the Creative Cloud apps.

To reauthenticate:

Click the “help” menu in the toolbar of Acrobat or one of the Creative Cloud apps

Click “Sign out…([email protected])” (this will be your Duke NetID)

Reopen Acrobat if necessary and you should be presented with the following screen:

Enter your [email protected] in the email address field (ex. [email protected]) and click “Continue.” Disregard the options to continue with Google, Facebook or Apple.

Please Note: Your full Duke email address will not work (ex. [email protected])

Click "Company or School Account".

You will be redirected to the Duke Log In page. Enter your NetID and password to log in.

You should now be able to use the software.

If you notice the same “subscription expired” notification in the bottom left of the Acrobat screen after going through these steps, confirm with your local IT administrator that your account has been renewed. To confirm that your subscription is active, please contact the OIT Service Desk.
