In recent spy shots, we got a glimpse at a camouflaged Ford Super Duty truck with an exposed grille. Based on the design of the current generation Ford Super Duty trucks, and the exposed grille on the 2023 prototype, YouTuber TheSketchMonkey created a render of what he thinks Ford's latest truck will look like. In a collection of recent spy shots, the new 2023 Ford Super Duty is slowly becoming more apparent. Thanks to limited front-end camouflage the front grille of this 2023 Ford Super Duty is completely exposed showing a stark departure from the current generation truck. Based on our observations, this particular 2023 Ford Super Duty is a Lariat trim based on the presence of side-steps and body-color mirror covers. Although we get a chance to analyze the 2023 Ford Super Duty’s new grille, Ford’s camouflage is hiding any other changes to the truck’s sheet metal. The hood appears to be flat and the distinct chamfer around the current generation truck’s grille is currently hidden on this camouflaged prototype truck. When it comes to the final production truck we are expecting a host of updates that make this more than a run-of-the-mill mid-cycle refresh. Based on the spy photos we are expecting a completely redesigned interior that should follow the design cues of the current generation Ford F-150. More Super Duty Spy Shots: The 2023 Ford Super Duty should retain its current lineup of both gasoline and diesel engines with a possibility of a hybrid model. The current 6.2-liter and 7.3-liter V8 engines should remain relatively unchanged along with the turbocharged 6.7-liter V8 diesel engine. Ford is putting the final touches on the 2023 Super Duty line of pickup trucks. We have a decent idea of what the truck will look like thanks to several batches of spy shots, and an unverified report claims the engine palette will include a new V8 that will replace the current model's 6.2-liter unit. Citing anonymous sources familiar with the pickup's development program, enthusiast website Ford Authority reported that the 2023 Super Duty will inaugurate a 6.8-liter V8. The unit will be naturally-aspirated, though its horsepower and torque ratings aren't available, and the publication adds that it will replace the 6.2-liter Boss V8 that Ford introduced in 2010. For context, the Boss is rated at 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, while the available 7.3-liter Godzilla V8 delivers 430 and 475, respectively. It stands to reason that the 6.8-liter will offer more horsepower and torque than the Boss and less than the Godzilla. There's no word yet on what the turbodiesel option will look like. In a separate report that also cites anonymous sources, Ford Authority added that a hybrid option will not be part of the portfolio. Earlier spy shots suggest that the visual changes will include a redesigned front end with bigger lights, a trim-specific grille for the upmarket King Ranch model, and steps integrated into the sides of the cargo box. The off-road-focused Tremor model will return as well. Ford will begin taking orders for the 2023 Super Duty on October 17, 2022, so the truck should make its debut in the coming weeks. While the F-250, F-350, and F-450 are still primarily heavy-duty workhorses, Ford enhances them with features aimed at taking the trucks to another level of capability and functionality.
Is Ford discontinuing the Super Duty?The 2022 Super Duty joins other Fords including the Mustang Mach-E, Maverick, Bronco, and F-150 Lightning as vehicles that are no longer available to be ordered by customers for the 2022 model year. Consumers may be able to find a few 2022 Super Duty models on sale at dealers, but it's unlikely.
