Wow, but...

So I have been playing Candy Crush since it was first released! Back then it was a fun and easy game, and it was fair between the new & older players, and I played it every day, having lots of fun. Until, I took a break from the game and game back. Everything was normal for me, however, my cousin was going to join the CandyCrush Community that exact day, when she joined, she played a few levels and she was instantly showered with boosts, lives, unlimited lives and she kept getting notifications of her getting more and more boosts, lives, etc. We both though this was extremely unfair because when I joined, I did not have the luxury items she did when I joined the game. I don’t know how, but with the help of my family, I am really close to completing Candy Crush and excitedly waiting for more levels! I am writing this review to say it was not fair! Please try giving us older players some good items in the next update!!!

Mind numbing and boring at higher levels

At the lower levels this is a great and addictive game. Years ago, the higher levels used to be fun, too. But not any more. The higher levels have now been tweaked so that you do not have enough moves to pass first time. Even with boosters many harder levels are set at a sequence of events with blockers (keys, skulls, etc) to render most boosters worthless. This is to stop your streak. At the same time, after 5 tries you are offered extra turns, more each try until you are offered 35 extra moves, i.e. a free pass if you pay gold bars. At this point the game is fixed so that the odd colour bomb or other goodie drops near the end to tempt you into spending your last lollipop hammer or hard earned gold bars because it leaves you just one turn away from passing. This is not by chance, and if you know this, it renders the game just mind numbing and boring: to progress you play level after level just to wait for the free pass, which eventually will come even if you have no gold bars. If by that time you know you can't earn any more gold bars because you have been beaten at the episode race, and if when even spending money on timed boosters means you get penalised by having the episode race taken away for the duration of your purchased boosters (which happened to me), the game is no longer playable. I just wait for someone else to be placed in charge who will resurrect what used to be a fun game.

Easy to lose interest in.

This is going to be a mostly critical review, because there’s really not much I enjoy about it at this point. It’s a game to play when I’m bored, an app to open for the daily gift. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve played for a few days consecutively then neglected the game entirely for something else. There’s just not enough in the game to keep someone interested when you get into the thousands territory of levels. There needs to be more events and more chances to win in events, because it’s ridiculous to insist that you have to get sugar stars 10x and whatnot just to win a 1 hour booster. The amount of things that pop up when you open the app and have to vigorously tap through is annoying. Getting rid of the spin to win when you lose a game was a mistake, obviously a money ploy. Another thing is the beanstalk. You lose all your winnings to see that you can try again in another 24 hours which isn’t the case, you’ll get another chance in a week or two. I’m aware of how nitpicky parts of this review will seem, I’m very bored and I like to complain, hopefully this is all taken on board. One thing I do currently like about the game is booster bot, I don’t think it’s insanely generous to compensate for the things I’ve complained about but it’s a consistent positive thing nonetheless, maybe that’ll stop a few more children from screaming at their parents to buy them stuff on this game.
