Although it provides extra security and increased performance for your devices, it doesn’t mean everybody is happy with this feature as people are already looking for ways to disable it.

What is Windows 11 S Mode?

So what is Windows S mode? This mode is exclusively running apps from the Microsoft Store so if you want to install an app that isn’t available in the Microsoft Store, you’ll need to switch out of S mode. 

However, you need to be careful as switching out of S mode is a one-way decision. If you decide to go through with it, you won’t be able to go back to Windows 11 in S mode.

As already mentioned, Windows 11 S mode allows you to run only apps from the Microsoft Store. By doing so, Microsoft ensures that you’re running only software that is tested to be safe and malware-free.

While additional security is always welcome, you’re missing out on a wide array of third-party software, and that is the main drawback of S Mode.

Although the feature has its benefits, many users, especially advanced ones, are choosing to disable this feature.

You should however think twice before making this decision as S Mode was designed to give you faster boot times, longer battery life, and better security.

Windows 11 S mode vs Home, which is a better choice? In our opinion, Home Edition is always better since it gives you more freedom to install any app.
