2023 F-150 Tremor colors

The 2023 Ford F-150 order guide and price list has been posted by our friends at the F150Gen14.com forum, detailing the standard and optional goods for the whole 2023 F-150 lineup. For those into fine print and combing through columns of option codes, there's a lot to be gleaned. To avoid getting too stuck in all the muddy details, we've highlighted six things to know about the 2023 Ford F-150.

Update: This post has been updated to include Rattler and Heritage Edition pricing.

Raptor R Gets Supercharged 5.2-liter V-8

With its supercharged 5.2-liter V-8, the 700 hp, 640 lb-ft of torque Raptor R is by far the hottest addition to the 2023 Ford F-150 lineup. Although it falls two horsepower short of its nemesis, the supercharged 6.2-liter Ram TRX, Ford has set the precedent of magically bumping horsepower figures after-the-fact to be slightly better than the competition—and we wouldn't be surprised in the slightest to see the R get a slight tuning adjustment that puts it on top of the TRX. Furthermore, the TRX's supercharged V-8 is probably going to sunset just as the Raptor R's 5.2-liter is rising. Common sense says that demand for the Raptor R will outstrip supply.

The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor starts at $77,570, which includes as standard the 801A equipment group; 800A gets dropped for 2023. (More on that coming up.) Raptor R is considered a package (option code 802A) and tacks on $31,575 for a grand total of $109,145. So according to Ford nomenclature, 800A is gone, 801A is standard, and 802A, the Raptor R, essentially becomes high. Back to that Raptor R price tag—that's the most expensive F-150 ever, with plenty of room to option upward even further. (Think: power tailgate, moonroof, and bed accessories.)

Tremor Gets 5.0-liter V-8

The Ford F-150 Tremor, considered its own trim (and not a package) when applied to the F-150, gains the 5.0-liter V-8 gas engine as standard for 2023, with the 3.5-liter V-6 EcoBoost as optional. Currently, the only Tremor engine is the 3.5-liter EcoBoost. This addition seems to resonate well with the Tremor crowd. Plus, without the intercooler, there may be room for a winch.

Lariat Loses Super Cab

RIP, Lariat SCAB. For 2022, you can get a SCAB (Super Cab, the one with shorty rear clamshell doors) in XL, XLT, and Lariat trims; 2023 drops the Lariat. That leaves the XL and XLT as the only trims to have all three cabs (Regular, Super Cab, and SuperCrew), with all other trims configured exclusively as four-door SuperCrew only.

Colors Added, Colors Deleted

New colors for the 2023 Ford F-150 include Area 51 Blue (from the Bronco and Maverick), Avalanche (from the Ranger special edition), Azure Gray Metallic Tri-Coat, and Hot Pepper Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat. Colors axed for the year include Smoked Quartz Metallic Tinted Clearcoat and Space White Metallic.

New Packages: Rattler and Heritage

The Rattler and Heritage packages join the lineup for the 2023 Ford F-150—and technically, the Raptor R is a package, too. The Rattler, an off-road package priced at $1,495 and reserved for the XL trim, bring off-road goodies (black-tipped dual exhaust, 18-inch dark wheels, all-terrain tires, Rattler logo, halogen fog lights, black interior with bronze color accents, Hill Descent Control, off-road tuned shocks, Rock Crawl mode (from Tremor), and skid plates) to the base trim. The Heritage Edition package, priced at $1,975 and exclusively for the XLT trim, brings unique looks and great style, especially with that two-tone exterior and unique black honeycomb and body-color surround grille.

The Bottom is Less Base

Whether you like it or not, some 2023 Ford F-150s comes with more features as standard. The XL, Tremor, Lariat, and Raptor trims lose equipment groups 100A, 400A, 500A, and 800A, respectively. They essentially get rolled into the next-up equipment group that's the new "base."

Cheers to another year of the F-150!

The Ford F-150 stomps into 2023, ready to take on any other half-ton truck that might challenge it for domination. This pickup has been and continues to be the top model in the market, giving us options, trims, and the quality we want and demand. With that in mind, here are six things you want to know about the F-150 from Ford.

1. The big Ford F-150 news: The Raptor R arrives

As if the Raptor wasn’t enough, Ford dropped a massive 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine into the front of the F-150 to give us the Raptor R. This Ford truck delivers 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque. The off-road prowess of this truck should put it ahead of the Ram TRX for good.

2. An engine option added to the Tremor version of this Ford truck

A little engine swapping takes place in the Tremor model of the F-150. As we enter 2023, we see Ford offering the 5.0-liter V8 engine as part of the standard package in the Tremor trim level. The 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 becomes an option, but now you have that option. Previous versions of this truck only came with the EcoBoost engine.

3. No more Super Cab for the F-150 Lariat

Starting in 2023, the Ford F-150 Lariat is offered exclusively with the SuperCrew cab. This means you only have two trims, XL and XLT, with the Regular Cab and Super Cab configurations.

4. Color swapping is a real thing in the Ford F-150

The new Rattler Package for the F-150 is available for the base XL trim, and it adds a few off-road items to this truck. These items include:

  • Blacked-tipped dual exhaust
  • 18-inch dark wheels
  • All-terrain tires
  • Rattler logo
  • Halogen fog lights
  • Black interior with bronze color accents
  • Hill Descent Control
  • Off-road tuned shocks
  • Rock Crawl mode
  • Skid plates

If you opt for the XLT trim, the Heritage Edition becomes available to you. This package brings you:

  • Two-tone exterior paint
  • Black honeycomb grille
  • Body-color grille surround

6. The base XL trim isn’t as basic as it used to be

Instead of offering some of the equipment groups as available options, Ford rolls these features into the various trims to make them part of the standard items. This means the XL trim for 2023 has more features than it did for 2022.

How many F

The efforts to produce a racing-themed F-150 didn't go over very well with the majority of the truck market at the time. In fact, less than 2,500 units of the racing-oriented Tremor were produced. After recognizing the misstep and returning after a 12-year hiatus, the Tremor silently went away for a while, again.
