So sánh kép là cấu trúc thường gặp trong ngữ pháp về các dạng so sánh trong tiếng Anh. Bài viết này sẽ giúp bạn nắm được cách dùng và cấu trúc của dạng so sánh này!

So sánh kép là gì?

So sánh kép là những cụm từ thường dùng trong tiếng Anh để diễn tả sự tăng dần hoặc giảm dần. So sánh kép thường được sử dụng để nhấn mạnh tầm quan trọng của việc thực hiện hoặc không thực hiện một hoạt động nhất định.

Dưới đây là một số ví dụ về so sánh kép:

The more you study, the more you learn.

Bạn càng học chăm chỉ, bạn sẽ càng học được nhiều điều hơn.

The more time you take, the better the assignment your turn in.

Bạn càng dành nhiều thời gian, công việc bạn hoàn thành càng tốt.

The less money I spend, the less I have to worry about saving.

Tôi càng tiêu ít tiền, tôi càng bớt lo lắng về việc tiết kiệm.

The less you worry about the others, the less they will bother you.

Bạn càng ít lo lắng về người khác thì họ sẽ càng ít làm phiền bạn.

Công thức so sánh kép trong tiếng Anh với tính từ & trạng từ

Với tính từ và trạng từ, so sánh kép gồm 2 cấu trúc càng…thì càng “The comparative… the comparative…” và càng ngày càng “Comparative and comparative”.

So sánh kép càng…thì càng “The comparative… the comparative…”

Trong dạng so sánh kép càng…thì càng, ta có 2 dạng với cấu trúc của tính từ, trạng từ thường & cấu trúc khi có “the more/ the less”.

Cấu trúc với tính từ trạng từ thông thường

Chúng ta có thể sử dụng tính từ so sánh hoặc trạng từ tương tự như nhau. Công thức này được dùng khi 2 vật hoặc 2 sự việc thay đổi cùng cấp độ. Cấu trúc được sử dụng là:

The comparative adj/adv + S + V – the comparative adj/adv + S + V

Ví dụ:

The harder you study English, the more confidently you speak.

The older children are, the taller they become.

The more active you are, the more flexible and leaner you become.

The darker it gets, the more scared they are.

The stronger the body, the better it resists.

The richer they were, the more privileges they enjoyed.

The faster you drive, the more likely you’ll get caught by the police.

The weaker the bones, the easier they break.

The prettier the girl looks, the more attention she gets.

The longer it goes on, the worse it will be.

So sánh kép càng…thì càng với “The more” - “The less”

Tương tự dạng so sánh kép trên, công thức sử dụng với “the more” và “the less” như sau:

The more / less + (N / N phrase) S + V – the more / less + (N) S + V

Ví dụ:

The more people join the protest, the more police will be involved.

The less money you spend the more you will have.

The more you exercise the fewer health worries you have.

The more time you spend working, the more stressed you get.

The less you talk about your problems the less you will think about them.

The more you laugh, the more relaxed you feel.

Lưu ý: Nếu chủ ngữ giả “It is” xuất hiện ở cả 2 vế so sánh thì bạn có thể lược bỏ.

VD: The sooner (it is), the better (it is) - Càng sớm càng tốt

Nếu cả 2 vế đều có “tobe” cũng có thể lược bỏ.

VD: The closer to the Earth’s pole (is), the greater the gravitational force (is). - Càng gần cực trái đất, trọng lực càng mạnh.

So sánh kép càng ngày càng “Comparative and comparative”

Cấu trúc này được dùng trong trường hợp miêu tả 1 sự việc ngày càng phát triển về chất lượng, số lượng,...

S + V + comparative adj/adv and comparative adj/adv

Công thức cụ thể với tính từ, trạng từ ngắn và dài:

short adj/adv – er and short adj/adv – er

more and more + long adj/adv

Ví dụ:

Because she was afraid, she walked faster and faster.

There are more and more people coming to this vacation spot.

It seems like there is less and less time to spend with the family these days.

Recently, people are finding more and more time to spend with their families.

So sánh kép với động từ & danh từ

Cùng với tính từ và trạng từ, so sánh kép còn được sử dụng với danh từ, động từ để diễn tả mức độ của hành động, sự việc, con người.

Cấu trúc với danh từ

The more/less + noun + S + V, The more/less + noun + S + V

Ví dụ:

The more people join the strike, the more police will be involved.

Càng nhiều người tham gia buổi biểu tình, càng nhiều cảnh sát dính líu tới theo.

The more children obey, the more parents mustn't worry about them.

Những đứa trẻ càng nghe lời, ba mẹ chúng càng không phải lo lắng

The less money I spend, the more I will save.

Tôi càng tiêu ít tiền, tôi sẽ càng tiết kiệm được nhiều.

Cấu trúc với động từ

The more/less + S + V , The more/less+ S + V

Ví dụ:

The more I look into your eyes, the more I like you.

Càng nhìn vào mắt bạn, tôi càng thích bạn hơn.

The more I know her, the less I like her.

Càng biết nhiều về cô ấy tôi càng ít thích cô ấy hơn.
