Is 2.3 kg laptop heavy?

My wishlisted Asus M712 laptop with Ryzen 7 5800U/5700U and an 17.3’’ screen has been recently back, whose mass is 2.3kg
But honestly how heavy is 2.3kg for such a laptop? Is it relatively lightweight for a king size screen laptop?

Seems about normal. My two-in-one with a 15-inch is 1.65 kg and my 17-inch with a GTX 1070 is 4.42 kg.

I consider it "light weight" as my 17" LCD screen already weights 4kg.

But people in the less famous forums were that, an 17.3" laptop is a "pain" on the constant moves, like lectures, studioes, and libraries if your 17.3" is going to be an university system, but they didn't notice the matter of the masses, for my example, my own wishlisted Asus M712 isn't that painful as they said, whose mass is just 2.3kg, with also external powers the gross mass is still under 3kg

Is this an ultra-thin? Looks like it is.

Depending on your needs, you might be able to find better performance in a slightly smaller, slightly thicker, but similarly heavy laptop with a more powerful mobile processor, like a 5800H, for a competitive price.

Hello, I’m currently searching for a new laptop for my study. One of the model that I’m really interested is Dell G7 and the weight is around 2.5kg. Is it suitable for student use in term of weight? Need to angkut ulang alik pergi library, kelas, group discussion etc. Or instead, should I get more lighter and potable laptop such as Asus Zenbook or Acer Swift?

I've carried a laptop of similar weight for almost 2 years and yes it's noticeable imo. Especially when added together with the thicc and heavy power brick. Right now I carry a sub 2kg laptop and it's much less strain on my shoulders. That said, the cheaper gaming laptops are heavy-ish and while lighter ones do exist they are either expensive or have not so good thermals.

Getting Started

My dell XPS 15, 1.8Kg also feel too heavy when travel, sometime think want to convert to XPS13 but I need high spec with good GPU. Still need to used XPS 15, 32GB RAM, 4GB GPU & 1TB SSD + 2TB HDD. I feel 2.5kg + adapter + other gadjets could be very heavy to carry everyday

Getting Started

Unless you really need the specs, I would recommend going with something lightweight. I've been using 2.5kg laptop since 2012 because I wanted to game on it. If I could go back to 2012, I would choose something lighter with lower specs even if I can't game on it.

Look at all my stars!!

When you travel as work, carrying even laptop considered light on review will feel heavy.

Students move from one place to another in short distance that take only short time. I don't think slightly heavy will make it noticeable, except probably some students with money more like want to show social status. This is quite normal for young people and even older people

Because I Fly, I envy no man on earth...

Of course the ideal light weight and ecstatic looks wise would be a Mac Book Air but the price will definitely burn a hole in your parents pocket.

I'm a student - sometimes I also feel heavy bringing my Y530. Will suggest getting below 2kg [if you want gaming laptop then need to pay more]

Never used Zenbook UX before so I can't comment but based on the reviews I read it does seem ideal to carry around. I was fortunate to inherit the first generation MBA when my late father passed many years ago. I have stopped using it ever since the smartphones and Ipad does everything I need for productivity.

Mind you lighter laptops are mainly for work productivity. Knowing students as I was one before, also want a machine that is able to play games ie. CS, DOTA, etc....

I'm getting too old for this shit

i'm not really a student but for work, i carry a 1.7kg HP laptop.. the laptop itself is not that heavy while carrying in a backpack, but factor in the adaptor, my water bottle, my foldable umbrella..i can feel the strain with the standard HP laptop backpack.however, i feel less strain with a better backpack like deuter gigantprobably because it's also a bit bigger thus the weight is better distributed.

Try carry mine haha. ~2.3kg laptop, ~0.6kg charger, haven't factor books/notes/papers, stationery and bag weight...[water bottle cannot put inside bag, too small aldy haha]Was considering a better backpack too but not sure worth it or not

Definitely worth it in the long run. I got a Samsonite laptop bag pack from the US back in 2012, still going strong until today.
