2023 WRX Reddit

Hey folks, I’m currently between these two cars. Some background info. I currently live at home with no expenses, 23 years old and pull around $3500 a month. I have expenses of about $800 a month which is usually just food, clothing, going out, pet care, etc. I don’t anticipate moving out for another 2 years at the moment. I live in a major city, but drive a lot on weekends. I anticipate about 5000 mile usage of my car a year. I’ll be putting about $12-15k down depending on how much I get back from an old car we will be selling.

Crosstrek 2023 Limited trim: good gas mileage, and chock full of features. Not the most exciting car obviously but very reliable and will do well in the northeast where I live. I anticipate cheaper insurance since I’m 23 as well.

Subaru WRX 2022 probably premium: will have to learn to drive manual and my dad will teach so I have help there. Premium gas is the biggest downside and an increase in insurance. Higher APR as it will most likely be 60-72 month financing.

My brain says crosstrek as it’s the logical safe choice and my heart says WRX as it’s been a car I’ve always adored. Id like to hear what you guys think on this. Thanks!

Just guessing based on the information given, it seems quite obvious that you are going to enjoy the new BRZ more.

If you ended up enjoying a first generation BRZ more than a VA STI, chances are you will enjoy the improved BRZ in relation to the lesser version of your old car, if that makes sense. If you liked the BRZ before, you will enjoy it even more now, that seems like the general consensus with the new model.

The VB has many great things about it, that is hard to deny. But if your STI did not feel like enough, I would highly doubt the VB doing it for you either, especially as a track car.

Good luck, either way both are capable and are good choices, you can't lose 😀

I worked for a Japanese company for 18 years. They are not great at innovation, however they do an excellent job at improving a concept. One thing I do know from experience, they never ever move quickly.

From all the reviews on the WRX, it sea like it is stiffer and they did use almost three times as much adhesives as in the previous generation. Also the peak torque seems to be available a lot sooner.

Subaru would have learned from when the Assend came out, and gone off this platform. Until they either modify the global platform or move something like ascend to an electric or hybrid, they won't change the WRX. I would Hazzard a guess the WRX will be around for at least six maybe eight years.

They've saved a lot of money on the global platform, however the initial outlay would have been significantly large. When you spread the love over multiple vehicles, the costs will come down.

Personally I believe they brought up peak torque knowing fine we'll the STi was done to bridge the gap a little.

I talked my way out of one this weekend, they were putting a $2k upcharge on MSRP due to stock availability. Still got me to pay some on pre-installed options [ceramic coating/lojack], could've been that it was the last of the month that they really didn't want me to walk. I've seen other people saying do not pay over MSRP on subs and even I, not a good negotiator, was fortunate enough to avoid the markup.

Just came back from the dealer after test driving my WRB sport-tech [limited]. On my test drive my dealer and I was chatting and he mentioned that their no longer taking orders on WRXs for the rest of the year [congrats on everyone that managed to get an order] and that they’ve been told [supposedly Subaru Canada] that they’re not making a 2023 WRX.

Has anyone heard anything about this? I can’t find any information that would support this. Seems pretty strange to kill off the STI and then stop the WRX altogether. Or maybe it means they’ll continue to sell the 2022 version in 2023 with no improvements?

On another note, my dealer said that they’re only getting like 10 WRXs for the year. I’m flabbergasted on how little quantities they got. [Calgary, Canada]

2023 orders still aren't open. Curious myself, but I don't see the cladding going anywhere. Honestly, go test drive one. They are very nice cars and a definite upgrade over the VAs all around. The cladding grows on you, the ass underbite does not. But you can order aftermarket flares paint matched for 1,500 or so last i saw

Any guesstimates on when the 23 will be available for order? I understand that the 22s were delayed so not sure how that will impact it. Hoping to place an order for a 23 sometime in first few months of 2023.

Is 2023 the last year for WRX?

Here is what's coming. The Subaru WRX is the last 2023 model year in Subaru of America's lineup to be announced. All other models' pricing and upgrades are available for customers but not the WRX. The BRZ has a dealer launch date among the two remaining sports cars.

Will there be a 2023 WRX?

2023 Subaru WRX Pricing We expect the base version of the 2023 Subaru WRX all-wheel-drive sedan will have a starting price of about $30,000. In addition to the standard model, there are four additional trims: Premium, Limited, and GT. These should range in price from between $32,000 to $37,000.

How well is the 2022 WRX selling?

The next-generation 2022 Subaru WRX sales are down 40.0 percent year-to-date, tied for the most significant drop of any Subaru model through the first nine months of 2022. Subaru misses the STI and should have kept the performance sedan in the lineup.

Will there be a 2024 WRX?

We expect to see first 2024 Subaru WRX arrive at Planet Subaru late in the 2023 calendar year. Subaru introduced a "full-model-change" 2022 WRX early in 2022.
