This fun cooperative 10 Commandment game helps students review and apply the 10 Commandments to everyday common situations. Try it out on 4th, 5th or 6th graders to augment any lesson on The Ten Commandments, Students need a game like this not only to get used to the rich wording of the 10 Commandments, but also to get the idea on how The Ten Commandments serve as our moral compass.

This 10 Commandment game is simple to make and it can easily be reused from year after year. Simply print the template on Avery 5095 labels and then put the labels on 10 plastic drinking cups.

2 layers of cups placed randomly works well so players actually focus on targeting the right answer. Building a taller tower work can be done, too, if desired.

I like the excitement of a very tall pyramid tower made in a 4 layers. However, in playing this game, I prefer to spread the cups out in a broader 2 layer tower as seen in the photo. The reason stems from the fact that the game calls for the participants to knock down a particular Commandment cup. With only 2 layers, the players are forced to focus their attention on aiming for the correct cup.

Supplies for 10 Commandment Game:

• 1 foam ball about 3 to 4 inches in diameter
• 10 large plastic beverage cups labeled with the 10 Commandments
• Labels attached to the cups

Setup of 10 Commandment Game:

• Stack the cups randomly into a 2 layer tall arrangement.
• Create a toss line about 8 feet away using tape or rope.

How To Play:

1. Divide class into 2 teams and have the teams line up behind the toss line.
2. Give the first person in line the ball.
3. Read one of the 10 Commandment questions from below.
4. The player must try to knock over the cup down that has the Commandment on it that the questions applies to. Only allow rolling of the ball. No throwing the ball allowed!
5. A point is scored for the team if he/she successful at knocking that cup over. Keep scoring tally marks on the whiteboard or on paper.
6. Rebuild the 2-layer stack and then have play continue to the next player. The team with the most points wins.
