Here in Brazil, this movie received perhaps the most generic title I've ever seen for a horror movie. Here, "The Possession of Hannah Grace" became only "Cadáver". It was probably a tip from the national distributors to let the public know in advance the generic crap they're paying to watch. Hannah moves like a broken Smeagol and her bones crack more than Kayako's. Sometimes she stands perfectly, but what she really likes is crawling across the floor in the most uncomfortable positions possible. The powers of this devil are completely unbalanced. I guess I can see where all the low ratings are coming from, but I enjoyed this enough and I’m sure that had a lot to do with my love of anything starting a Pretty Little Liar. I mean, I think I gave that awful Martyrs remake 2 stars mainly for that reason, but this actually had a few really fun moments. It also had more than a few really stupid “that’s not even how that works” moments, but whatever I was fine with it while curled up on the couch during a lovely thunderstorm.

The Possession of Hannah Grace is another one of those horror movies that could’ve been so good! The concept is interesting, and the actual storytelling has potential, yet the overall direction flopped. The scary moments lacked bite or just either paint by the numbers, made worse by cringy acting. I mean, the side characters are just standing there!! The deaths and jumps-cares are without tension nor deep sense of dread either. Disappointing. Props to this film for never utilizing the villain’s nakedness for sheer exposure. The Possession of Hannah Grace is also surprisingly equipped with a stunning sound effects while the character development is noticeable too. Casual fans of the genre might find life here and there but overall, this possession-themed film is unimpressive and lacks any remarkable moment.

Definitely not a positive, but the most remarkable thing about this movie is that they managed to have a naked girl as the killer, yet never show any nudity.

This reminded me of ‘The Autopsy of Jane Doe’ [I know, based on just the titles alone, this must be a shocking comparison😒].
