August 30, 2022

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Delivering impressive fuel economy and offering features that make family life simpler, the 2023 Nissan Rogue is on sale now with a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price [MSRP]1 of $27,360.

The Nissan Rogue was completely redesigned and reengineered for the 2021 model year, with an all-new platform, a "family hub" interior concept and an expanded range of available technologies. For the 2022 model year it added Nissan's innovative new 1.5-liter variable compression [VC] Turbo engine, providing enhanced power and fuel efficiency, and the most standard gas engine torque in its class2.

This year, Rogue expands its already broad appeal with the addition of a Midnight Edition package on the popular SV model that includes 18-inch gloss black painted alloy wheels, black exterior accents with high-gloss V-motion grille, black badging and TailorFit™ leatherette seating. The Rogue Platinum and the SL Premium package also add the convenience of Amazon Alexa®, helping customers simplify and organize their lives. Alexa can play music, place calls, control smart home devices and more, with just voice commands.

The 2023 Rogue has the most standard safety features in its class3, with standard Nissan Safety Shield 360®4 on all grades. Other key standard features include NissanConnect® with an 8-inch touchscreen [9-inch available] featuring Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity and standard LED exterior lighting.

Rogue also offers advanced driver assistance technology with ProPILOT Assist. Standard on Rogue SV and higher, ProPILOT Assist can assist with steering, acceleration and braking during single-lane highway driving. Available ProPILOT Assist with Navi-link [standard on Rogue Platinum, optional on Rogue SL] adds the capability to use data from the navigation system to proactively adjust the vehicle's speed before curves and freeway exits.

Rogue is offered in four well-equipped grades – S, SV, SL and Platinum – each available with front-wheel drive or Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.

Act fast if you're in the market for a new Nissan Rogue Sport. The city-friendly crossover is months away from sailing into retirement, according to unnamed dealer sources, and the Japanese company isn't planning on launching a second-generation model in our market.

Citing a memo that Nissan sent to its dealers, Automotive News reported that Rogue Sport production will end in December 2022.

"With the all-new Rogue and the recently redesigned Kicks, we will continue to cover this part of [the] market effectively," Nissan vice president Scott Shirley wrote in the note. "We are also able to invest more resources in our current vehicles and next-generation products."

The news of the Rogue Sport's demise doesn't come as a surprise. Launched for 2017, the crossover is essentially an Americanized version of the second-generation Qashqai that went on sale in many global markets in 2013; it's a much older design than it might seem. While the Qashqai remains hugely popular in Europe, where it's considered right-sized, it hasn't been a hit in the United States, and the bigger Rogue outsells it by a wide margin. Specific figures are not available; Nissan lumps Rogue and Rogue Sport sales into one number.

Nissan will invest the money it saves by canceling the Rogue Sport into better-selling cars like the Rogue, the Kicks and the Pathfinder. It renewed the Rogue and the Pathfinder in 2021 and 2022, respectively, and anonymous dealer sources revealed the firm has big updates planned for the Kicks. The second-generation model due out in 2024 will be longer, wider, "more SUV-like" and offered with all-wheel-drive.

Rogue Sport production is scheduled to end in December 2022 but sales will continue into 2023 until inventory runs out. It's a different story in Europe: the third-generation Qashqai made its debut in early 2021 with a more muscular-looking design and a more upmarket cabin.
