What's included

Within the download you'll find the following directories and files, logically grouping common assets and providing both compiled and minified variations. You'll see something like this:

We provide compiled CSS and JS [bootstrap.*], as well as compiled and minified CSS and JS [bootstrap.min.*]. CSS source maps [bootstrap.*.map] are available for use with certain browsers' developer tools. Bundled JS files [`git clone //github.com/twbs/bootstrap.git`0 and minified `git clone //github.com/twbs/bootstrap.git`1] include Popper, but not jQuery.

Documentation

Bootstrap's documentation, included in this repo in the root directory, is built with Jekyll and publicly hosted on GitHub Pages at //getbootstrap.com/. The docs may also be run locally.

Documentation search is powered by Algolia's DocSearch. Working on our search? Be sure to set `git clone //github.com/twbs/bootstrap.git`2 in the `git clone //github.com/twbs/bootstrap.git`3 include.

Running documentation locally

  1. Run through the to install Jekyll [the site builder] and other Ruby dependencies with `git clone //github.com/twbs/bootstrap.git`4.
  2. Run `git clone //github.com/twbs/bootstrap.git`5 to install Node.js dependencies.
  3. Run `git clone //github.com/twbs/bootstrap.git`6 [or a specific NPM script] to rebuild distributed CSS and JavaScript files, as well as our docs assets.
  4. From the root `git clone //github.com/twbs/bootstrap.git`7 directory, run `git clone //github.com/twbs/bootstrap.git`8 in the command line.
  5. Open `git clone //github.com/twbs/bootstrap.git`9 in your browser, and voilà.

Versioning

For transparency into our release cycle and in striving to maintain backward compatibility, Bootstrap is maintained under the Semantic Versioning guidelines. Sometimes we screw up, but we'll adhere to those rules whenever possible.
