What is the measured and fitted fee?

As a pharmacist or appliance contractor, you can receive an additional fee for elastic hosiery, truss or para stomal garments where measurement of the patient was required.

This fee is listed in Part IIIA, Part 2B of the Drug Tariff.

How is the fee claimed?

The prescription should be clearly endorsed with 'MF' next to the appropriate item.

How much is the fee?

The current fee is £2.60.

When can the measured and fitted fee be claimed?

As per the Drug Tariff part IIIA, the measured and fitted fee will be paid for:

  • Elastic Hosiery (Compression Hosiery) requiring measurement and endorsed 'measured and fitted'.

  • Trusses requiring measurement and endorsed 'measured and fitted'.

  • Para stomal garments (belts and girdles) where size is not* indicated in the Drug Tariff requiring measurement and endorsed 'measured and fitted'.

The measured and fitted fee will not be paid for lymphoedema garments which are prescribed as made to measure; you will be reimbursed for the cost of the made to measure garment listed in Part IXA of the Drug Tariff.

Healthwick is proud to carry a variety of quality compression socks in Canada, in different lengths and compression levels.

Measuring for compression socks and stockings can be performed by a certified fitter, but it can also be done easily by yourself at home.

To begin, you will need a measuring tape. For best results, measure first thing in the morning as your leg will swell over the course of the day, leading to unreliable measurements if you take a measurement later in the day.
