Genesis GV70 2023 changes

What's New

Launched in 2022, there are no changes to Genesis’s compact SUV for the 2023 model year. There are still two engines and a variety of trim levels, with Sport buyers now receiving a heated leather steering wheel.

Choosing Your Genesis GV70

The GV70 range is configured differently from other marques, in that you choose your engine, and then trim levels cascade down from there. Only one trim – flagship Sport Prestige – is shared between both the 2.5 and 3.5-liter engines, with three standalone trims on the former and two on the latter.

Prices start at $43,995 [including destination] for the base model with a 2.5-liter gas engine, ranging up to $65,995 for a 3.5-liter Sport Prestige. You can also have the larger engine in two lesser trims, or upgrade the base 2.5 model to three higher levels of specification.

Engine Choices

The standard 2.5-liter gas engine produces 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, supplied to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. It returns an EPA-estimated 22 miles per gallon city, 28 mpg highway, and 24 combined. By comparison, the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 outputs 375 hp and 391 lb-ft, while fuel economy drops to 19/24/21 mpg.

Engine Type Horsepower Torque Fuel Economy [City/Highway/Combined]
2.5 turbo 300 hp 311 lb-ft 22/28/24 mpg
3.5 V6 375 hp 391 lb-ft 19/24/21 mpg

Passenger and Cargo Capacity

Cargo capacity for the five-seater GV70 stands at 28.9 cu ft with the rear seats in place, and 56.9 cu ft once they’re dropped.

Safety Features

Across-the-range features on the GV70 include blind spot monitoring, lane following assist, and front/rear collision avoidance alert, plus a safe exit warning system. Long-distance journeys are simplified with smart cruise control including stop and go, highway driving assist, lane keeping assist, and a driver attention warning, while auto high beams are also standard. Mid-range Advanced 2.5 models receive blind spot view monitoring and remote smart parking assistance, but only Sport Prestige is similarly equipped among the 3.5-liter variants.

Connectivity

Every GV70 comes with HD, satellite, and two-band radio, with smartphone mirroring and Genesis-connected services controlled through a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation. Advanced models [Sport Advanced for 3.5L buyers] and above enjoy a 16-speaker Lexicon audio system with over 1,000 watts of output, while Sport Prestige benefits from a 12.3-inch 3D digital instrument cluster.

2023 Genesis GV70 GV70 – MSRP from $43,995

Despite missing out on many of the features found higher up the range, base models still offer navigation, connected services, and an eight-inch digital instrument cluster. The heated and powered front seats include four-way power lumbar support for the driver, while the lower instrument panel is wrapped in leatherette to match the seats. There’s a power hands-free liftgate which opens automatically, too.

There are no packages available on any GV70 model.

2023 Genesis GV70 Select – MSRP from $47,745

The first GV70 to receive larger 19-inch alloy wheels and pre-wiring for towing, Select models improve their cabins with a power panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and memory for the driver’s seat, mirrors, and steering column. Other improvements include a heated telescopic steering wheel, aluminum trim, and Genesis logo lamps in the power folding outside mirrors. Like the base model, this can only be purchased with a 2.5-liter engine.

2023 Genesis GV70 Advanced – MSRP from $52,645

If you’re a music lover, the 1,050-watt 16-speaker Lexicon surround sound system makes Advanced trim a must-have. This is the first 2.5-liter GV70 to offer leather seating, rear door shades, adjustable ambient cabin lighting, and blind spot view/surround view monitors, too.

2023 Genesis GV70 Sport Prestige – MSRP from $56,795

The only trim available with either engine, Sport Prestige models ride on 21-inch sport alloy wheels. They replace the eight-inch digital instrument cluster of lesser models with a 12.3-inch 3D version. Three-zone climate cools a cabin that sports mesh inserts on its leather seats, power-extendable cushions, and bolster on the driver’s seat. Choose a 3.5-liter model, and you also gain Brembo brakes and a limited-slip diff, plus a head-up display.

2023 Genesis GV70 Sport Advanced – MSRP from $61,045

Another 3.5-liter-only model, Sport Advanced is distinguished by its dark chrome grille and sport aluminum trim. It retains Sport Prestige’s power seat adjustment, with a variable exhaust valve system creating a distinct soundtrack. It also has a hands-free smart trunk and wireless device charging.

CarsDirect Tip

Costing almost $20,000 less than the most expensive GV70, Select offers plenty of creature comforts at a competitive price. Higher trims struggle to justify their premium, and the 3.5-liter engine represents a pricey upgrade; uniquely, Sport Prestige includes key safety features to rein in its considerable power.
