Etude house wonder pore cleanser review

Mine I just stayed in bed and hibernated because it started to snow here and we are now in the minus degrees…. brrrr it’s getting cold.

Anyway, today I would like to share with you my experience with Etude House wonder pore deep foaming cleanser.

I wanted to take a break from my baking powder cleansing foam and decided to use the cleansing foam I got from my discovery kit.

You can find another review I made from one of the other product from the discovery kit here.

This facial wash is another addition to the Wonder Pore line.

This is a product for people prone to excess sebum and with big pores.

The packaging

Because I have the deluxe sample size, this contains 30 ml, which should be good to use for at least 2 weeks.

The facial wash comes with a screw top and the body is easy to press on : it is pretty easy to get the product out.

On the back, you can see the production date : once opened this should be used within 12 months.

The product

This facial wash has a creamy texture with small beads, to remove the excess sebum accumulated throughout the day.

It is white and the microbeads are blue : this is scented and kind of reminds me of toothpaste.

This lathers pretty easily as well. I just add a bit of water and make it bubble on my palms.

I massage this on my face and then rinse it with lukewarm water.

After, you will feel your face getting “cold” because of the mint.

It really feels like you just applied toothpaste on your face.

But a really nice thing I found about this facial wash is that this does not dry my face up.

My face is ready to take on the next step of my skincare.

Conclusion

This is a good facial wash for people with combi to oily skin.

It does the job at removing the excess sebum and does not dry the face… BUT the after effect does make me feel I just used toothpaste on my face.

The effect is really fresh, even more so when I use it when I shower.

If you are sensitive to scent, you might want to stay away from this product.

If not, do try a sample first and see if you like the “fresh sensation” that this facial wash provides!

Would I buy a full size you ask?

I would say no, I am just finishing this tube and I will continue using my baking powder facial wash.

Hello Beauties, I wanted to share with you these products that I received recently as a gift from Mimo Studio UAE. I told them that I have a Combination / Oily skin, and these were the products recommended by them for me to try.

Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner and Wonder Pore Deep Foaming Cleanser

Finding the perfect Skin care regime has always been a struggle for me because hormonal imbalance affects my skin plus the weather and lifestyle in Dubai too. I have been seeing a lot of Bloggers and Influencers rave good things about Korean Skincare, so I was curious and interested to try for myself all the fuss.

As I’m writing this review, I’ve just completed a 2-week mark so I’m confident to share my findings and I do hope it helps you decide whether to get these products especially my Oily sisters out there.

Also, I wanted you guys to check Mimo Studio Website to shop all your Korean skincare and makeup needs. Their website is so easy to access and work around. Everything is arranged accordingly to your skin concern and makeup products to make it easier for you to pick the specific product specially catered to your needs.

Okurrrr… Let’s begin the breakdown on each product.

  1. Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner 10-in 1 Toner

What is it?

Price: 250ml / 65 aed Formula: A complete solution treating pores. Contains peppermint extract. Deep cleansing of pores. Balances skin pH. Sebum control. The pores become less visible and keeps elasticity. Improves and evens out skin tone. Moisturizing. Skin type: All, but mainly oily, combination and acne prone skin with enlarged pores. NOT for sensitive skin

This toner claims to effectively clean the inside and outside of pores with its special peppermint extract. It promises to balance the pH levels, making the skin pure like baby skin and prevents skin troubles caused by pH imbalance. It claims to treat 10 skin issues that most people tend to suffer more often, especially during hotter periods like Summer. It helps to:

  • Balance skin’s ideal pH level
  • Refines skin tones
  • Keeps elasticity of the pores
  • Removes skin surface’s dead skin cells
  • Cleanse pore insides with cooling effect
  • Deep cleanse pores
  • Minimize appearance of pores
  • Control a large amount of sebum
  • Moisturize inside and outside of skin
  • Complete smooth glass-like texture

Ingredients:

WATER, ALCOHOL, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, BETAINE, MENTHA ARVENSIS EXTRACT, VACCINIUM MYRTILLUS FRUIT/ LEAF EXTRACT, SACCHARUM OFFICINARUM [SUGAR CANE] EXTRACT, CITRUS MEDICA LIMONUM [LEMON] FRUIT EXTRACT, CITRUS AURANTIUM DULCIS [ORANGE] FRUIT EXTRACT, CHAM- AECYPARIS OBTUSA WATER, GINKGO BILOBA LEAF EXTRACT, ACER SACCHARUM [SUGAR MAPLE] EXTRACT, GENTIANA LU- TEA ROOT EXTRACT, ARTEMISIA ABSINTHIUM EXTRACT, ARNICA MONTANA FLOWER EXTRACT, ACHILLEA MILLEFOLIUM EXTRACT, GLYCERETH-26, GLYCERIN, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, SODIUM HYALURONATE, ACETIC ACID, DISODIUM EDTA, PHENOXYETHANOL

So, with the ingredients list in mind, you can see why the product is such a love-or-hate type of product. First, there is alcohol, it is actually the second ingredient on the list. Now I know that some people dislike any form of alcohol in their skincare, and some people have concerns about alcohol drying out the skin. It’s certainly true that alcohol can dry out the skin and impact the skin’s barrier function, but my view on alcohol is that if 1] it isn’t in high concentrations in the product, and if 2] it has a purpose, e.g. it helps to thin out an otherwise thick/oily product, then it’s probably alright if 3] you have oily skin. So far, my view is that it is acceptable. But of course, I don’t recommend it to people with already dry skin as using this I did see that it gave me a subtle dryness effect which is not a problem for my skin type.

You can ran all ingredients with CosDNA if you have time.

Packaging?

It is packaged in a cute, cartoony like blue plastic box and a light yet sturdy plastic bottle. Nothing elegant about it but it does not feel cheap either. It looks nice on my vanity table. It is sturdy and solid. Everything is labelled on the package and container.

It has a tiny nozzle that dispenses an enough amount onto the cotton pad, nothing difficult in it.

Application

Toners are usually 2nd step in my Skin care routine may it be morning or evening, so I applied this after double cleansing my face. I have been using this for 2 weeks now both day and night routines. I use cotton pad to apply it in my face. For each use I dispense 2 to 3 drops

Performance? Does it actually work?

Well, I’d say it depends on what you mean by “work”. If you’re expecting it to do wonders and totally remove your pores, then I’m afraid that it isn’t going to do that. After all, pores and blackheads are complex little things, and my view is that it’s not possible for there to be one single “wonder product” that does it all for your pores. The Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner does help to control and remove excess oil, because the alcohol in the product will do that job, but you can probably supplement your pore-busting regime with a couple of other products.

It has this cooling effect which I love because I live in a hot weathered country and I saw that it deeply cleansed my skin and control my sebum.

VERDICT

This is not a bad toner; however, it is alcohol-based, so if you have sensitive or mainly dry skin it would be best to avoid this toner. I really like the refreshing feeling on my face, and since my forehead, and nose are the oiliest parts of my face, this usually helps with controlling that.

This product is also affordable, because for 65aed, you get 250ml. So, if you want something that works, but won’t break your bank and can last you for months, go for it!

  1. Etude House Wonder Pore Deep Foaming Cleanser 10-in 1

This face wash promises to help with these 10 issues:

Ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Myristic Acid, Peg-32, Potassium Hydroxide, Lauric Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Peg-100 Stearate, Mentha Arvensis Extract, Mentha Piperita [Peppermint] Extract, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Water, Gentiana Lutea Root Extract, Kaolin, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Arnica Montana Flower

This product contains mint and mint is good for preventing pimples from popping and soothing irritated skin because it contains a high content of salicylic acid. At the back it also says that it includes Anti Pore-Dex Complex II.

The squeeze tube works perfectly.

Packaging, Texture and Scent

The packaging is quite cute, and I find the light blue packaging to be refreshing. It is a squeeze tube container and the nozzle dispense enough amount.

The texture of the cleanser is like any foaming cleanser and its white in color. It also has blue beads that help exfoliate the skin.

As for the scent, it smells very minty which I love.

Application

As with any foaming cleanser, I squeeze an appropriate amount on my palm and make a lather before applying it to your face. I try to move in circular motions to get rid of more dirt. I use this as the 2nd step in my Double cleansing routine during my Morning and Night skin care routine.

It has small blue beads that helps in exfoliation.

Performance? Does it actually work?

To start with, my pores aren’t that big. The only times I see my pores are when I wash my face with warm water or steam my face. But in terms of Cleansing I can say that it does a good job. It leaves the skin clean and with a slight cooling effect which I like. It didn’t dry out my skin and managed to get rid of the oil has accumulated during the day.

VERDICT

I love this product! It does perfectly what a daily cleanser is supposed to do: getting rid of all the dirt and sebum and it’s also easy to remove left over makeup with it. I didn’t notice a huge difference in my pores though, but they didn’t get any worse also since I’m using this wash. It helped with controlling the oiliness of my face. With just a pea size amount of the cleanser is enough to clean my entire my face so I’m sure this face cleanser will last me for months.
